Ciao Bocconi: Choosing English Taught Bachelors In Milan

The essential Bocconi decision is disciplinary rather than reputational. Ask which intellectual machinery you want to spend three years learning to operate. It suits the student committed to business but not yet committed to one function. Choose it for intellectual breadth, not because it appears a “safer” Bocconi option. Admission follows the standard 55/45 formula.

Finance

Finance offers 460 places and is considerably more quantitative than its investment-banking image suggests. Students examine financial markets, intermediaries, instruments, risk and data-driven decision-making. It suits applicants who genuinely enjoy mathematics, economics and making decisions under uncertainty. A student attracted principally by the prestige of banking, but uncomfortable with statistics, is choosing the label rather than the discipline.

Economics

Economics has only 115 places, making capacity substantially tighter. The degree develops economic theory, econometrics and empirical analysis before allowing students to gravitate towards Economic Sciences or Economic and Data Sciences; the latter incorporates algorithmic and machine-learning techniques. Choose Economics if you are fascinated by why markets, incentives and institutions behave as they do. Mathematical comfort is indispensable.

Management and Computer Science

This 230-seat programme occupies the territory between data science and managerial decision-making. Programming, probability, machine learning, econometrics, databases and AI coexist with management, finance and law. It is compelling for the student who enjoys coding but does not want a conventional engineering-style computer science degree. Students seeking hardware, operating systems or deeply technical software engineering should look elsewhere.

Mathematical and Computing Sciences for Artificial Intelligence

With just 115 seats, this is Bocconi’s most mathematically distinctive undergraduate programme. Mathematics, algorithms, physics, game theory, machine learning and modelling extend into areas from finance to neuroscience. This is emphatically not “business with some AI”. SAT applicants need minimum 600 in Math, simply to remain eligible. It suits students who genuinely enjoy abstraction and mathematical reasoning.

Management for the Arts and Cultures

This 230-seat degree combines economics and management with humanities and creative industries encompassing museums, heritage, publishing, music, film, fashion, design and media. It is not an art-school degree. It is designed for students interested in managing cultural production, institutions and creative businesses. For an applicant interested in luxury, media or cultural entrepreneurship, it can be considerably more coherent than generic Management.

International Politics and Government

With 115 places, IPG combines political science, economics, history, sociology, law and quantitative policy evaluation. Its signature is evidence-based policymaking rather than diplomacy as theatre. The standard Politics and Policy Making track incorporates a compulsory exchange. Choose it if regulation, geopolitics, governance and public policy interest you as much as corporate strategy.

HEC–Bocconi Double Degree: Data, Society and Organisations

This separate 110-place programme divides study between Bocconi and HEC Paris. Unlike regular Bocconi admission, selection is genuinely multidimensional: grades and test scores are accompanied by motivation, CV/profile information and a mandatory video interview. It is designed for students interested in political and social systems who also want serious quantitative, data-oriented and organisational analysis.

Bachelor in Global Law

Global Law has just 80 places. It studies law across jurisdictions while integrating economics, finance, management and digital technology. It suits students considering international legal advisory work, regulation, compliance or postgraduate legal study. Admission operates through a separate Law School ranking, and applicants may additionally use the LSAT or Bocconi Law Test, alongside the SAT, ACT or regular Bocconi Test.

World Bachelor in Business

WBB is the extraordinary outlier: approximately 45 places, four years, three universities and three Bachelor’s degrees from USC Marshall, HKUST and Bocconi. Students rotate through Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Milan. Admission is explicitly highly competitive and holistic through the Common Application, examining academics, activities, essays and recommendations; SAT/ACT scores are optional but strongly recommended. Choose it only if relentless geographic and cultural mobility excites rather than exhausts you.
